Albert Glenn
Born “with an airplane in his hand”, Albert Glenn has had a lifelong love for Aviation. He obtained his first ”wings” on a Pan Am flight at age 3, then his pilot license in 1970 and has never looked back.
Albert Glenn began his aviation career as an Instrument and multi-engine flight instructor, Part 135 charter pilot and in aircraft sales. Joining FedEx Corporation in 1974, he progressed as a data control clerk, Master Control Supervisor, Flight Duty Officer, Chief Pilot of Flight Operations, Managing Director of Flight Operations and pilot hiring with the Company. Amassing over 18,000 hours, Captain Glenn is qualified to pilot the B777, MD11, DC10 and B727 aircraft.
While his personal professional accomplishments are impressive, Captain Glenn’s true passion has been to help young people discover their aviation dreams. In 1987, he became Director of the Negro Airmen International Solo Flight Academy in Tuskegee, AL. In 1995, Glenn supported Woodale High School in Memphis as it became the State’s only high school for specialized training in aviation. In 2018 he established the Lt Luke Weathers Flight Academy (LWFA) in the Memphis area. The LWFA provides training and resources needed for young people to go from no experience to airline pilot qualification within three years. Captain Glenn has worked continuously to make aviation education accessible and to position Memphis as an Aviation Center of Excellence.
In April 2022, Captain Glenn was appointed to serve as a Commissioner on the Memphis-Shelby County Board of Commissioners.
