James C. Bynum, Jr

James Bynum, Jr. set the highest standard for workmanship, knowledge and ethics as an aviation mechanic and technician.  Working & training technicians in the Chattanooga, TN area, he raised the name “A&P Technician” to a more respected level.

To pilots in training, who just wanted to be around airplanes, he employed them to clean the corporate airplane to a standard seldom seen at the time. He taught “the wiper gets the best look” and training them to speak up if something looked unusual or different.

He also trained technicians in the same way - instilling the standard that no one is too good to clean because we wanted to recognize problems and correct them so the airplane could be presented to the flying pilots in the best airworthiness condition possible.  He was also an innovator and inventor of many tools and parts to aid in the highest level of aircraft maintenance.
