E. Ward King

()Kingsport entrepreneur Ward King founded Southeast Airlines, Tennessee’s first commuter airline in 1956. The airline served the cities of Memphis, Jackson, Dyersburg, Union City, Clarksville, Nashville, Tullahoma, Knoxville and Tri-Cities. The CAB failed to award the airline additional out-of-state routes which forced its closure in 1960.
